Preparation steps:

1. Rinse 1 cup of basmati rice thoroughly, and cook until tender. Set aside.
2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat.
3. Add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, allowing them to splutter.
4. Stir in 1 tablespoon of chana dal and 1 tablespoon of urad dal. Saute until golden.
5. Add 10-12 fresh curry leaves, 2 dried red chilies, and a pinch of asafoetida. Saute briefly.
6. Mix in 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
7. Incorporate the cooked rice, gently mixing to coat evenly with spices.
8. Garnish with 2 tablespoons of roasted peanuts for texture.
9. Serve warm, enjoying the aromatic blend.
